“The
naked female body is a portion of eternity too great for the
eyes of man.”

Depicting women has been a favorite subject of Art since the
dawn of time, and like all artists before me, I have always been
infatuated with the female form. Whether she’s a comic
book amazon, damsel-in-distress, or a B-movie scream queen, capturing
beauty and sensuality in clay can be a major challenge. It takes
great care and a lot of practice. But one can’t ask for
a sweeter chore.
Sculpting girls has been a glorious departure from the usual
dinosaurs and terrible beasts. It also shows where I’ve
grown most as a sculptor, from the humblest beginnings, always
seeking to improve and refine. During the mid-nineties, I was
approached on many occasions to sculpt beautiful women. Frequently,
the subject was a B-movie actress or model, catering to fan requests
for a ‘kit’. I got to know some of these girls on
a personal level, and had a terrific time working with them.
