Charles R. Knight,
who lived from 187 to 1953, is famous for his ground-breaking
depictions of dinosaur, prehistoric animals, and wildlife. Known
as the father of paleo-art, Knight was commissioned by scientists
to restore living animals from the fossil records, often putting
flesh to bone for the first time. Millions of people are exposed
annually to this artist's works in major institutions around
the world including the
American
Museum of Natural History, the
Field Museum of Natural
History, and the
Natural History
Museum of Los Angeles County.

In 2005, I was approached by Rhoda Knight Kalt, granddaughter
of Charles R. Knight, and executor of his estate. We are collaborating
on producing fully-authorized models of his works. Tyrannosaurus
Rex is the first of that series. Since Knight’s paintings
inspired the dinosaurs in King Kong, and the Harryhausen films,
it seemed appropriate for me to take on this project.
Tyrannosaurus Rex is produced by Mike Evans, one of the finest
resin casters out there, and can be purchased from The Alchemy
Works.
Also available from Alchemy is my battling sabre-tooth cats
sculpture, ‘Sabre-duel’, which is inspired by the
smilodon paintings of Knight.
